The cartridge collector has acquired another Dutch collector that works on behalf of a cancer charity.recyca_logo

The acquisition by the Belgian company will see it take over Cartridge4KiKa’s “activities in the Netherlands”, and the deal “strengthens Recyca’s position as [an] important empty cartridge collector in the Dutch market even more”. Recyca previously acquired another collector, Nica CTC, in 2014, and the addition of Cartridge4KiKa “adds another strong partner to the Recyca family in order to grow their empty cartridge collection business in the Netherlands”.

KiKa (Kinder Kanker) is a Dutch children’s cancer foundation (CCF), and is an “independent non-profit organisation that is funded by public and corporate donations” that help to “develop new and improved treatments for curing children’s cancer”. The foundation also aims to “reduce the impact of cancer by offering services to ensure children and their families are supported, informed and well cared for on their journey with cancer”.

The foundation also “strives” to support cancer research, improving “the quality of care for pediatric cancer patients”, and to “decrease the side effects after cancer treatment and its effects”, with the aim of increasing the chance of a cure to 95 percent by 2025, though “there is still lots of expensive research needed”.

Cartridge4KiKa collected empty toner and inkjet cartridges across the Netherlands, and Recya has already “been working with Cartridge4KiKa as their logistic partner for two years”, with the Belgian company staying in “the background” and “responsible for the collection, checking, sorting and qualification of their empty cartridges”, with all funds donated to KiKa.

The acquisition will see “new collection boxes and a new website” help aid “clear communication with our clients in the Netherlands”, Recyca added, noting that “with a new and improved interface we will be able to expand our collection portfolio and inform our clients [that] we also collect e-waste besides the empty cartridges”.

This means that its clients “are able to support the KiKa foundation even more […] Recyca is looking to improve and expand the collection programmes and their contents in order to support KiKa for many years to come”.
