The OEM has announced the future boards of directors for HP Inc. and Hewlett Packard Enterprise.hplogonew

The announcement comes ahead of the OEM’s split in November this year into two separate companies – HP Enterprise and HP Inc. – having announced the split last October. The PC and printing side, HP Inc., will be run by Dion Weisler as President and CEO, whilst Meg Whitman will be President and CEO of Hewlett-Packard Enterprise, the software and services side.

HP Inc. will aim to deliver “innovations that will empower people to create, interact and inspire”, whilst Hewlett-Packard Enterprise will “define the next generation of technology infrastructure, software and services for the new style of IT”. The two future boards of directors, HP notes, will “bring diverse leadership expertise and insights from multiple industries”, and contain “members of the current HP board” alongside “several new directors”.

The new directors have been chosen “after a comprehensive review of personal and professional qualification as they relate to the specific needs of the two companies”, and each new board “will go into effect upon completion of the separation”. Current HP board member James Skinner has resigned as well, with the resignation “effective upon completion of the separation”.

For Hewlett Packard Enterprise, the board will be chaired by HP board member and Lead Independent Director Pat Russo, previously CEO of Alcatel-Lucent and Chairman, President and CEO of Lucent Technologies Inc. The other members are Meg Whitman; Dan Ammann; Marc Andreessen; Michael J. Angelakis; Leslie A. Brun; Pamela Carter; Klaus Kleinfeld.; Raymond J. Lane; Ann M. Livermore; Raymond E. Ozzie; Gary M. Reiner; and Lip-Bu Tan.

Whitman will chair HP Inc., and the board will include: Shumeet Banerji; Carl Bass; Robert R. Bennett; Charles V. “Chip” Bergh; Stacy Brown-Philpot; Stephanie A. Burns; Mary Anne Citrino; Rajiv Gupta; Stacey Mobley; Subra Suresh; and Dion Weisler.

Russo commented: “We set out to create two boards with the most experienced, global-minded and diverse members we could find to help each company win in their unique markets. In addition to their collective business acumen, the new board members have worked in more than a dozen countries around the world. They will provide strong leadership and invaluable insights into international operations, market opportunities and effective governance.”

Whitman stated: “The post-separation boards for both Hewlett Packard Enterprise and HP Inc. comprise leaders with some of the most diverse backgrounds and professional experiences I’ve seen in my career. I’m confident that these boards will successfully serve the needs of both companies and their shareholders at a defining moment in time.”

Weisler added: “I’m very excited to work with the new board of HP Inc. HP Inc. has tremendous opportunities and having a skilled board with a global perspective is critical to me and my management team, especially as we embark into new markets like 3D printing and immersive computing. The chance to take in the skills of new board members is a great benefit of the separation.”
