large-format-printingGlobal figures for the devices show a 1.3 percent growth in shipments for 2Q2015 while revenue was flat, despite the worldwide printer market declining six percent.

Research from IDC found that HP was the market leader, with its market share increasing marginally by 0.4 percent to 40.4 percent, with 31,600 shipments, followed by Canon with a 23.3 percent share, up 0.7 percent, with 18,200 shipments. Epson also overcame slower sales in the IMEA region to grow its share by 1.5 percent to 19.8 percent, although its shipments dropped by 1,000 to 14,300.

This was in spite of other data from IDC that found that total shipments fell to 24.1 million units in 2Q2015, with the corresponding shipment value dropping by 3.4 percent to $13.2 billion (€11.7 billion), although high-end devices posted “very healthy growth”, with the 45-69ppm monochrome laser MFP segment growing 17.3 percent, fueled by the Lexmark MX611 family.

Similar to the large format segment, HP continues to dominate overall with a 40 percent stake in printers worldwide, followed by Canon with around 20 percent and Epson with 15 percent.
