The OEM is looking to further its 40 percent leadership in the printer market with a new range of printers and scanners.
The printers are the HP LaserJet Enterprise M506, the MFP M527 and the MFP M577, and feature HP’s recently anounced security features, becoming available from 1 October, The Hindu reported. Customers with HP Future smart printers from 2011 onwards can upgrade with the new features.
Leong Han Kong, Vice President of HP Asia Pacific (Printing Systems), said the devices’ ‘JetIntelligence’ technology increased printing speed while lowering energy consumption, with the speed from getting active from ‘sleep mode’ to printing in nine seconds, compared to 17 seconds for the older models.
In 1Q2014, HP had a 48.3 percent share of the Indian printer market, followed by Canon with 16.4 percent, Epson with 10.5 percent, Ricoh with 5.7 percent and Samsung with 5.3 percent.
Leong said of the new security innovations: “With anti-fraud technology built into every toner cartridge, customers have more protection that identifies counterfeit cartridges and helps control costs of printing in office as its misuse can be checked.”
He added about the market in general: “India is a very large and growing market for HP where there are still people who are buying their first printers. So, we see a lot of scope.”
