Xerox tool reduces toner use in printing

Sep 29, 2015

tonerThe Toner Optimiser detects and eliminates overlapping ink and toner coverage that often happens as a result of square computer pixels being converted into circles to be read by the printing device.

The new cost-saving tool also helps businesses in their efforts to be sustainable and reduce toner consumption and waste, ultimately reducing toner transportation and packaging, Al Bawaba reported. The news site reported that it is not yet available in the UAE.

Other features of the optimiser include enabling business clients to better view their print infrastructure, including directly-linked USB devices, job tracking information, toner and paper usage, and the number of connected users and printed pages.

The optimiser uses “advanced algorithms” to distinguish between text, graphics and images, enabling high-quality printing for a variety of documents. There are also self-configuring techniques which allow the tool to integrate into print environments.

This operates with a desktop software-enabled tool in the background, which is invisible to end-users so “there’s no interruption to existing business processes or workflow”. The technology is part of Xerox’ three-phased MPS approach: to “assess and optimise, secure and integrate, and automate and simplify”.
