The company related on its website (German) that its team, which sails in the Conger class, had been “successful in the German championship” from 14 to 18 September, as part of the company’s pledge to “present [itself] as a promoter in youth sports”, with the latest championship taking place on the Brombachsee near to the company’s headquarters in Hiplotstein, near Nuremberg.

While the company’s team did not win, battling “difficult wind and weather conditions” they came seventh in the competition, with sailors Patrick Höhne and Maximilian Berg from sailing club Wällerwind Pottum eV (SCWP). The two sailors had previously taken part at German championships in 2010, 2011 and 2012, and have become German Youth Champions of the Conger Class Association. Geldfuermuell added their “congratulations for [the] good placement”, and noted that it is “already looking forward to the next sailing season”.

The company added that it had previously sponsored another conger-class boat in 2010, and has invested around €16,000 ($17,841) in the teams towards material purchases. The company also sponsored the entire event alongside other businesses, and reiterated that “it is not only the success of the athletes who have proven us right […] we know how important it is to promote the sport”.
