Driven mainly by colour, sales by IT distributors in the region have increased 12 percent year-on-year in the first 10 weeks of the third quarter of 2015.
According to data from Context, colour laser MFP sales make up 20 percent of all distribution sales, registering an increase of 17 percent year-on-year, with strong performance in Germany and France particularly fueling the growth.
Falls in the average selling price and growth in the number of clients choosing colour over mono printing are said to account for the on-going volume increase in the subcategory. The average selling price (ASP) for colour laser MFPs have dropped 14 percent, from €630 ($717) to €517 ($588), owing to fierce competition and changes to the vendor product mix.
Mono laser MFPs registered a weaker, but still positive, performance, growing eight percent in the period as a result of sharp increases in the UK and Germany, of 26 percent and 14 percent respectively. Prices for the category fell four percent year-on-year, reducing the selling price to €233 ($265).
By country, laser MFP sales grew in Germany, the UK, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Portugal, Belgium and Austria by 39 percent, five percent, 14 percent, seven percent, 29 percent, eight percent and four percent respectively. They fell in Italy, France, Spain, Sweden, Finland, Denmark and Norway, by seven percent, one percent, eight percent, five percent, 28 percent and 23 percent respectively.
