LagosEnterprise customers at the OEM’s conference in Lagos were told that it will work with technology business managers to create “more manageable IT environments that cost less to operate and deliver more value to the business”.

The company said that HP is still the best partner for staying businesses who want to avoid uncertainty, with Chukuwuma Okpaka, Acting Managing Director of HP Nigeria, saying that its solutions are targeted at addressing big data and cloud computing for its big and small enterprise customers, This Day Live reported.

The conference’s theme was “helping business to stay relevant in the idea economy” and was held in conjunction with its alliance partners Intel Corporation, VMware and SAP. HP Director Yergen Govender said a “new style of business” was required to thrive in the idea economy.

HP believes that technology trends such as ‘Big Data’ and cloud computing are often presented with a lot of rhetoric, but they also present “profound opportunities” for clients and vendors and are “affordable platforms” that are giving rise to a new class of entrepreneurs.

Gautha Raj-Hewl, Server Business Director and Storage Business Director at HP, said: “The challengers of the status quo are revolutionising entire industries at a pace and scale never seen before. This is what we call the Idea Economy.”

He says CIOs should work with the OEM to standard and consolidate IT infrastructures, with faster access to information and communication between branch offices and headquarters.

“They must work with Hewlett Packard to manage information and equipment obsolescence”, he said. The conference also discussed delivering value through hybrid infrastructure and possibilities for adopting HP purpose-built infrastructure to deploy applications and shorten go-to-market lead times.
