Put your price up

Nov 23, 2015

I have recently been in Bulgaria and Romania talking with remanufacturers, and had a brilliant meeting in Romania, courtesy of Victor Matache at Toko; where we had a brilliant session with about 140 or so Romanian remanufacturers, and the session overran as I talked about raising prices. Delacamp seminar in Romania

Basically, I was at the front telling the audience to put their prices up and giving some insight into how that can be done, and a very entrenched audience were adamant that “in Romania you can’t put your prices up”; and a bit like a tennis match, we batted to and fro, scoring points off each other.

Now, I get a little evangelical about persuading people to put their prices up, and charge what they and their products are really worth, and as I sat down I figured we had a draw. But Victor emailed me a day or so after the conference and said: “Your presentation, in fact a real show, has been very much appreciated by the audience. We have very positive, I can say enthusiastic, feedback from our customers. I will keep you informed about the experiments of increasing the prices by our customers. We as well will test your ideas on our retail channel.”

I call that a result!
