A reviewer on British supermarket Tesco’s website said that “Tesco ‘remanufactured’ cartridges” would not work in their Canon PIXMA MG3550.
Calling themselves ‘PeterW2009’, the critic said they had tried to use a “supposedly compatible Tesco colour cartridge and now the printer won’t print anything”, with pressing the reset and resume button not changing anything.
Another reviewer, who like ‘PeterW2009’ gave the device one star, also couldn’t get the device to print: “Every time we send something to print, the error light flashes and it takes 30 minutes to an hour to work out what’s wrong, as the error messages don’t display. It is very frustrating and I hope that I can get my money back for this useless printer.”
The Tesco website lists a range of remanufactured cartridges, including a number under Tesco’s own brand for HP, while the majority of those listed are under the Pelikan brand, with some from Armor also available. Compatible inkjet and toner cartridges are posted for most of the major OEMs, mostly under the PrintMate brand.
Product Reviews reported on the comment, saying that: “We do find it strange how some of them said how hard it was to set up, while others found it very easy. Others were unhappy about how it will not accept Tesco ‘remanufactured’ cartridges, although we have always said it is best to stick to the official cartridges to make sure you always get the best from the printer.”
