Toshiba sues Katun over toner cartridges

Dec 3, 2015

toshiba_logoThe lawsuit alleges Katun’s infringement of nine US patents related to toner cartridges used in Toshiba-branded MFPs.

Toshiba America Business Solution (TABS), together with co-plaintiff Toshiba TEC Corporation (TEC), has filed the case in the Court for the Central District of California, MPS Connect reported.

Tom Walter, Vice President of Distribution and Aftermarket Sales at TABS, said: “Despite numerous warnings from TABS and TTEC over the span of several years, Katun has continued to manufacture and sell products that infringe our patents. This lawsuit was a necessary response to Katun’s actions in the marketplace.

“TABS and TTEC have made substantial investments in their innovative and patented technology, which drives the reputation of Toshiba-branded products in the market as a go-to provider of reliable and trusted printing solutions.”

The Recycler has contacted Katun for comment on the case.
