The American Ink Jet ink sets are designed for the OEM’s imagePROGRAF wide-formats.
The ink sets, marketed as American Ink Jet by IIMAK after the latter company acquired the former, are said to be “affordable, plug-and-play” inks for use in cartridges for the imagePROGRAF range. The machines include: the 6300; 6300S; 6350; 6400; 6400S; 6450; 8300; 8300S; 8400; 9400; and 9400S. IIMAK noted that the inks are “formulated to deliver exceptional quality and compatibility”, and are 100 percent pigment-based.
The company also commented that the inks are “developed and manufactured” in its “state-of-the-art facilities” in the USA, using “proprietary sub-micron filtration to prevent clogging issues and assure long printhead life”. Each cartridge is individually replaceable and does not require ink lines to be flushed, and are also able to be used with existing colour profiles on the devices, with availability either in bulk size or in remanufactured cartridges for all 12 colours.
Testing conducted on the inks included “accelerated fade testing to ensure images […] have a long display life”, while the inks are “best suited for retail [and]POS applications”. Jim Andreottola, IIMAK’s Channel Manager for Wide-format Inks, stated that “the inks we developed for the Canon imagePROGRAF large-format printers give customers a fully compatible alternative to the OEM.
“We have developed, tested and optimised these inks thoroughly in our lab and in customer environments to ensure consistency and satisfaction. This ink set broadens our customers’ portfolio in the wide-format marketplace”.
