Trade Arabia reported on the OEM’s move in Africa, with Canon Middle East “increasing its presence in Africa” through printing, including in wide-format inkjet, UV, laser, inkjet and colour printers, with an eye on the “vast African markets”. The company recently exhibited at the Siagra Africa 2015 event in Morocco, which was focused on graphic arts and packaging, with imagePRESS, varioPrint, ColorWave and imagePROGRAF machines on display.

The OEM pointed out that while developed economies “remain static or sluggish this year”, Africa is seen “as a growth market”, with emerging economies that are “keen to take advantage of the competitive advantage offered by companies like Canon”. It also cited Ernst & Young’s Attractiveness Survey, Africa 2015, which states that “we remain confident that, despite economic headwinds, the ‘Africa rising’ narrative remains intact and sustainable”.

Hendrik Verbrugghe, Canon Middle East’s Marketing Director, commented: “Africa is a key market for Canon. SIAGRA was a fantastic opportunity for us to not only meet with customers and partners but also give visitors insight into the incredible new solutions that are currently being developed by our R&D teams across the globe.

“Canon’s ambition is to be the leading full service provider in the professional and production printing space, across Africa and the world. Canon will invest the necessary resources to enable our growing number of African customers to take full advantage of our innovations in hardware, software and professional services.”
