Ink Store, in Portsmouth, expects a new Tesco supermarket to “boost his business” as opposed to affecting it.
Portsmouth.co.uk reported on local small businesses in the English city, and their reactions to a newly-opened Tesco supermarket in Fratton Park, which most of the owners “insist […] is not hurting business” and “not having a negative effect”. The new store opened in November and created 350 jobs, with companies interviewed including Ink Store, based on the same road.
Dave Baker, owner of Ink Store, which “deals primarily in printer cartridges” and which has been in business since 2005 selling original and third-party cartridges, told the news site that the superstore “may even boost his business”, as the other nearest supermarket – an Asda in a nearby shopping centre – “already brings a lot of people to the area”.
Baker added that “if people weren’t using Asda, they may not use us at all. I don’t know how many people will switch from Asda to Tesco for shopping, but they could drop in and replace cartridges on the way”. Ink Store also offers refilling alongside PC, laptop and mobile phone repairs, with Epson, Canon, HP, Kodak, Lexmark and Brother cartridges available.
