The company is sponsoring an analyst’s webinar about the recent HP Inc-Samsung deal.
In a press release, MWA Intelligence stated that it would sponsor a webinar this week called HP + Samsung +A3: Winners and Losers in the Industry’s Biggest Deal, hosted by BPO Media and set to be held at 1pm EDT (Eastern Daylight Time) on 22 September. The webinar is set to “explore the largest print acquisition in HP’s history”, which was reported last week and which saw HP Inc acquire Samsung’s printer business for $1.05 billion (€932.8 million).
The companies added that HP Inc “touts the move as ground-breaking” and has claimed it “positions HP to disrupt and reinvent the $55 billion (€48.9 billion) copier industry, a segment that hasn’t innovated in decades”. MWI questions whether the acquisition is “really that big of a deal”, and whether it is “true disruption”, with BPO Media’s webinar set to “explore that, as well as a number of other questions surrounding the transaction”
These include what the deal means for HP Inc’s “three-decade-long manufacturing partnership with Canon”; whether the OEM can “make business inkjet a reality with its PageWide A3 devices”; whether copier dealers will “embrace – or even accept – the new HP devices or even just HP”; whether the OEM’s “brand awareness with the IT buyer create[s] new opportunities for ‘copier’ placements”; and what “new features, programmes and devices can we expect” from the deal.
The release concluded that BPO Media’s analyst team “bring more than 40 years of experience in the printing industry to the discussion as we examine these and more questions”, with Senior Analyst John McIntyre leading the seminar, and having worked as an analyst, product developer, strategist, marketer and researcher in the printing and supplies sectors for research firms and OEMs.
