A press release said that the printer is specifically designed for businesses and insurance companies who want to print cheques. It is powered by a battery and weighs nine pounds, is light and small for users on the move, and can be used to “print insurance claims, payroll and other business cheques”, with print speeds of up to 20ppm.

The MICR uses TROY MICR ink, and the printer features fonts which the company said ensures “a consistently high quality of MICR printing”, adding that it also increases security for businesses as there are no pre-printed cheques to carry.

John Hodgson, Vice President and General Manager for TROY Group, said: “Leading insurance companies came to us asking for a more reliable mobile MICR solution, and TROY delivered. The TROY 200 Mobile MICR Printer is the next generation mobile solution. The positive feedback we are receiving from our customers validates our view that TROY has raised the bar for mobile check printing with the 200 mobile printer.”
