The OEM and Reuters reported on the results, which saw revenue for the third quarter fall to $844 million (€770 million) compared to $851 million (€776 million) last year, while in the imaging unit, the OEM saw revenue fall to $688 million (€627 million) compared to $703 million (€641 million) last year.

In its results posting, the OEM also reconfirmed that the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) had approved the deal in which Apex will acquire Lexmark, adding that clearance “was received” on 30 September and that CFIUS “found that there are no unresolved national security issues associated with the proposed transaction”.

As part of a “precondition” to the CFIUS’ clearance of the deal, the committee required that both Lexmark and the consortium buying it “enter into a National Security Agreement with the Department of Defence and Homeland Security”. The OEM further noted that the transaction “remains subject to approval from China’s State Administration of Foreign Exchange (SAFE) and other customary closing conditions”, but that it expects the deal to close before the end of the year.
