MPS Connect reported on the OEM’s new releases, with the first launch including colour laser printers to “help small offices and enterprises alike facilitate fast, easy information sharing from a variety of devices”. The new printers include the SPC340DN and C432DN, which “enable quick, high-quality colour printing and access to many of the software solutions that drive collaboration and productivity”, such as mobile printing.

The C430DN, said to be “sturdy, reliable and cost-effective” as well as “well suited” to start-ups and SMBs, features 1,200 x 1,200dpi resolution, a print speed of 26ppm and a “four-line LCD interface”, while the C342DN features the same resolution and print speed, a 4.3-inch touchscreen and “simple synergy with common software solutions to track usage and costs” as well as “enhance security and implement authentication”.

Both machines are compatible with Apple AirPrint and Ricoh’s Smart Device Print&Scan app, feature wireless connectivity and can print directly from USBs or SD cards, while the suggested retail prices for the machines are $395 (€355) for the CP340DN and $565 (€508) for the C342DN. The OEM also launched the Ricoh Application Suite, offering “device-based applications” ranging from “informational widgets to advanced workflow components”, and which are available on its new MFPs.

The apps feature automated installation, and operate on the Smart Operation Panel-equipped MFPs, while a series of “next-generation software products” were also released, with all the new apps and software part of Ricoh’s Workstyle Innovation Technology package. One key feature in this technology is the Smart Device Connector, which allows users to “control MFP functions from their mobile devices”, and connect them to other devices for a “collaborative environment”.

New apps included Streamline NX and GlobalScan NX, which offer “document workflow automation”; the Integrated Cloud Environment (ICE), which offers “simplified access” to features through the SOP touchscreens; the Nuance Unified Client for one “single embedded application” of products; PaperCut print management software; ID Card Scan & Copy; Scan to Server for SharePoint; Shared Folder Print; and Book Copy Helper. Each of the apps are available, with more planned.

John Brophy, Vice President of Product Marketing at Ricoh USA, commented: “Communication and collaboration are at the core of modern business success. As a result, being able to provide quality colour communications quickly, easily and at an affordable price point, as these devices do, is a major asset.

“When you need to get your message out — whether it is to customers, partners or within your organisation — you need to know you have a device you can rely on to have the uptime and capabilities to make that happen. Another aspect of that communication is the ability for IT to secure and keep tabs on how the organisation’s fleet is being used. This series works well with software solutions to help them do just that.”

On the apps, he added: “What ‘today’s workplace’ means is constantly evolving, so businesses’ toolsets for sharing information, enhancing collaboration and driving productivity should be evolving, too. This is why we are working closely with developers and designers, both our own and our partners, as well as making a developers’ kit available. We want our customers to have the innovative tools they need to succeed, no matter how the demands on them change.”
