Counterfeit money and printer seized in India

A man from Batala was arrested for printing fake money worth Rs 1 lakh ($1,499/€1,350).

The Hindustan Times reported that the money and a printer were retrieved at the crime scene after a team of intelligence officers raided the counterfeit racket. Manoj Kumar was arrested for the alleged crime of printing and circulating counterfeit Indian money, announced MF Farooqui, Inspector General of Police, in a press conference.

Following information received, the police arrested Manoj at a bus stop where he was on his way to deliver “a consignment of fake currency”. Farooqui added that “a portion of the consignment containing fake notes worth Rs 7,700 (€104/$115) in denominations of Rs 500 ($7/€6) and Rs 100 ($1/€1) were recovered from his possession on the spot. After quizzing him, fake notes worth Rs 1 lakh […] and the printer were also recovered from his house”.
