Nov 9, 2016

The two colour smart printers, S3840cdn and S3845cdn, are designed to work with OpenManage Printer Essentials (OMPE).

The models deliver 1,200 x 1,200dpi print resolution, with the S3845cdn being able to scan quickly due to its Duplex Automatic Document Feeder (DADF). The OMPE solution enables “quick and easy fleet management [and] software installation”, while download time is “reduced by up to 60 percent”, and now saves drive space as the software is smaller, while printer settings can be cloned across the fleet, making the set-up easier.

The printers have ENERGY STAR qualification, meeting environmental and Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) standards as well as EPEAT Silver registration. Furthermore, the printers come with the Trusted Platform Module (TPM) for data encryption and greater security, requiring a four-digit PIN for the secure print release.

George Toh, Vice President of Dell Imaging, said: “Today’s digital workplace demands are such that companies need solutions that are fast, easy to use and enable productivity, and our new printers and software are designed to do just that. At Dell, we are always listening to our customers, which is why we’re so excited to offer both our latest Colour Smart Printers and our innovative new solution of OpenManage Printer Essentials.”

The Dell Colour Smart Printer S3840cdn is priced at $599 (€539), and the S3845cdn MFP is priced at $999 (€899), and both include a one year guarantee as well as a year’s onsite service after remote diagnosis.
