The Dubai-based company is continuing to grow and expand, and now employs 100 workers, according to a press release. By joining the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) programme, which is the “largest corporate sustainability initiative”, GIT will be adhering to principles of “human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption”, which will advance common goals.

Sassan Dieter Khatib-Shahidi, Founder and CEO, commented: “Joining this programme is a natural extension of GIT’s purpose of creating jobs and equal opportunity for all, regardless of gender, ethnicity and beliefs. In the Middle East and Africa, GIT created 25 new jobs in 2016 to reach 100 employees this month, a new growth milestone which further demonstrates our commitment to the region.

“Furthermore, women represent 35 percent of GIT’s employee base, of which 50 percent are in leadership positions at market standard pay. GIT already aligns itself with the best international standards.”

Since it was founded in 1999, GIT has been responsible for “saving three million kilogrammes of CO2 from being released into the atmosphere”, and the aim is to save 10 million kilogrammes by 2020, so joining the UNGC will strengthen the company’s resolve and obligation for an “environmentally sustainable future”.

GIT “has been recognised by IDC as the leading OEM-alternative supplier from 2007”, and “continues to help more than 2,000 customers in 15 countries across the Middle East and Africa by providing premium remanufactured toner cartridges, printers, leasing, service contracts and managed print services”. Earlier this year, the company opened a new East African subsidiary, and planned an expansion, which it later reported on the success of.
