Canon starts UK printer promotion

Nov 18, 2016

canonmaxifyseriesThe OEM is pushing a scanner and printer promotion “in a bid to boost” sales.

CRN reported on the promotion, which is “aimed at channel partners and end users” and which “could see resellers” win up to £1,000 ($1,242/€1,169), in a “bid to boost scanner and printer sales”. Resellers would earn “bonus points on Canon’s printer programme”, Zoom-In on Canon (ZIoC), when selling “any of the printers and scanners in the promotion”, with ZIoC points “exchanged for monetary rewards, usually in the form of a pre-paid card”.

If a resellers sells over seven models from the promotion before 16 December, they can win “one of three cash prizes” including £250 ($310/€292), £500 ($621/€584) and £1,000. End users meanwhile will get a “free three-year warranty” and ReadIris Pro 15 document flow software with scanners, while being “entered into a draw” to win £2,000 ($2,484/€2,339) or “e-vouchers for Virgin Experience days”. The OEM’s distributor Tech Data is “backing the promotion”, which is focused on the UK market.

Steve Martin, Tech Data’s Business Development Manager for Print, commented that resellers “should be interested in the promotion” as scanners “are still important equipment for businesses, meaning there is space for a channel push”. He added that “scanners still play an important part in the market, with document archiving, document flows and document management. While we like to think we are living in a paperless world, there is still a lot of paper that needs to get into the system, and this provides an opportunity for resellers.

“The more we push the promotion, the more it will help drive business through Canon. Printing is still a key point in businesses and still has a part to play. Printers are becoming a way to manage document flow around a workplace. There is also legality, ad hoc marketing, proofing etcetera that all require printing. There is still a case where paper is required as a backup”.
