PrintWithMe, a new printing start-up firm, has raised its first investment for a new business allowing people to print from coffee shops and other public places.
A press release said that investors in the first round were “led by” Network Ventures who were joined by the M25 Group, New Stack Ventures, Little Engine Ventures and others. Based in Chicago, PrintWithMe is a start-up company that is “building a network of mobile print stations in public spaces so you can print on the go”, from printer stations situated in public buildings and coffee shops as well as hotels.
Users will be able to “email their attachments to the printers email address and then pay via the PrintWithMe site”, at a cost of $0.19 (€0.17) for monochrome and $0.39 (€0.36) for colour, and the “co-working spaces can make the service available to their members for $29 (€27) a month”. At present, the company has sites in 20 cities across America, but plans to expand further with help from the funding from investors, and it has installed stations in over 120 locations, reaching 20,000 customers.
Jonathan Treble, Founder of PrintWithMe, said: “PrintWithMe is a more convenient and cost-effective option than printer ownership for most consumers and remote workers. We see a big opportunity to leverage technology to turn printers into a shareable asset and bring print/scan/copy/fax capabilities to where people live and work.”
