Analyst GFK reported on the third quarter results for technical consumer goods.
The Dutch market showed a growth of 2.4 percent in comparison to last year, however office equipment and consumables declined by double digits, reported Dutch IT channel. The IT sector, the largest in the Dutch market, had a turnover of €791.8 million ($835 million) which was a decrease of 3.9 percent on last year. The products that influenced the figures the most were the desktop PCs with a fall of 15.5 percent, with laptops falling 6.4 percent and media tablets 10.5 percent.
However IT peripherals, such as keyboards and routers, “continued to grow” ,but only cover a small part of the IT market. There was a decline of 15.9 percent in the office equipment and consumable sector, and the turnover totalled €147.9 million ($156 million). The biggest decline in this sector was that of laser cartridges at 15.9 percent, and inkjet cartridges at 12.1 percent, and these two product groups account for 61 percent of sales in value within the office equipment sector.
