Cartridge World UK acquires European franchises

cartridgeworldlogo-200x67Cartridge World UK and Ireland has acquired the master franchise rights for France, Spain and Portugal.

In a press release, the retailer said that this would be “effective from 1 December”, and that the development will “grow the network of Cartridge World franchisees” that are stewarded by CEO Paul Callow and COO David Almand to around 200 stores, which will meant a combined revenue of around €30 million ($31.9 million).

The company added that “as part of this larger network”, UK franchisees “will experience a number of benefits”, such as “being more strategic with business objectives such as looking beyond refilling ink cartridges and cartridge sales”, as well as “offering a wider range of managed printing products and solutions while raising the level of support accessible to them”.

Finally, they can gain “improved economies of scale through increased network growth”, with Callow and Almand hoping that the announcement can “extend the Cartridge World message, that the company delivers incredible value-for-money savings and product consistency, beyond UK borders”.

As part of the deal, the retailer has “acquired Cartridge World France S.A.R.L as a going concern”, and Callow commented that “this expansion into mainland Europe opens up fantastic opportunities for our existing – and future – franchisees. Being part of a much larger network allows our franchisees to be more strategic in their business objectives, looking beyond re-filling ink cartridges and cartridge sales, to offer a whole range of managed printing products and solutions. It also raises the level of support accessible to them”.

He also said: “Since joining Cartridge World in April this year, the team and I have combined our expertise in the printing industry with Cartridge World systems to develop a range of strategies, partnerships and business tools, which are all contributing to growth and increased profitability for our franchise owners in the British Isles. This announcement enables us to continue this work across a significantly larger territory.”

Rod Young, Global CEO of Cartridge World, added: “The master franchise team, led by Paul and David, have done a fantastic job of starting to re-position the Cartridge World brand in the UK and Ireland since they took over in April of this year. With their deep imaging industry knowledge it is strategically important for both the Cartridge World group and franchisees within the existing UK and Ireland network, that this work is replicated in the neighbouring countries of France, Spain and Portugal.”
