A man in Somerset is blaming mistaken identity over the theft of printer cartridges in a Sainsbury’s supermarket.
reported that Robert John Taylor, a 43-year-old from Frome in Somerset, is accused of stealing ink cartridges worth £295 ($369/€347) from the store, but he said that this is a case of mistaken identity. Taylor pleaded not guilty when he appeared before Magistrates 8 November, however Prosecutor Emma Lenanton, said that “the defendant was allegedly seen by a security guard” and also said that he was “caught on CCTV selecting the ink cartridges and the leaving without paying”.
The case was reviewed, and the “allegation was adjourned” until 24 January when Taylor returns to court “to stand trial”, but until then he has been released on “conditional bail” and told not to enter any Sainsbury’s supermarkets.
