The IPP (internet Printing Protocol) Everywhere Certification was achieved by 25 new printers.canon-new-printer

The certification allows “instant, on-the-go printing from laptops, phones and tablets”, a press release reported by the IEEE-ISTO Printer Working Group (PWG), who explained that IPP Everywhere allows “network printing using a single universal set of software, without requiring any vendor-specific drivers to expose all printer features and functionality”.

The certified printers can be easily found and immediately used, which makes printing when in hotels or meeting centres much easier, the company added, and now there are 98 percent of up-to-date network printers that support IPP and the core technology, PWG 5100.12-2015, which powers it. IPP Everywhere-certified printers can be identified by the PWG’s “IPP Everywhere” trademark logo, which you can view here.

The list of the first IPP Everywhere-certified printers includes machines from HP Inc, and there are more PWG members expected to announce their certified printers in the coming months. The PWG is a “programme of the IEEE Industry Standards and Technology Organisation (ISTO)”, with members including “printer manufacturers, print server developers, operating system vendors, network software developers, network connectivity vendors, and print management application providers”.
