The OEM released three new ranges in both Europe and South Africa.
Graphic Repro reported on the launch of the three new MFP ranges, which include the imageRUNNER ADVANCE C255 and 355 series, the C3500 series, and the 4500 series – the last of these launched in the USA recently, with all three “designed to give the same user experience, both for those using the machine and those managing it”. The machines all feature “intuitive controls and straightforward connectivity” to “become an integral part of today’s more complex office eco-system”.
Additionally, the machines integrate “with a wide range of document workflow solutions, controlling total cost of ownership, and providing class-leading end-to-end security in a small form factor”. The printers all utilise the OEM’s latest imageRUNNER ADVANCE platform, which was included on the previously-launched 6500, C5500 and C7500 ranges, offering a “powerful platform for a connected office”.
The platform is designed to “help customers be more productive in their workplace”, with a “smartphone-like user interface” and the ability to enable “smart control of print costs, remote management and repair and outstanding operational efficiency”. In terms of “mobile enablement”, the OEM’s approach is said to be “to work anywhere, securely with best fit solutions”, with all three MFP launches – part of the “third generation”, offering “common” features.
Mobile connectivity options include “working with extensive capabilities to connect devices […] out of the box”, and the platform embeds itself in Apple AirPrint, Google Cloud Print and Mopria, as well as working alongside Canon’s uniFLOW document services platform. Digitally, the machines can digitise documents through the platform, and the technology “makes it easier to create files, convert them and make them editable” on Google Drive, Evernote and Dropbox among other software.
Finally, on the technical side, the devices are built “around an intuitive servicing infrastructure” that allows engineers and fleet managers to “check the status of devices and access information about any required maintenance remotely via PC or mobile devices”, which aims to improve “response time” and increase the “likelihood of a first-time fix. The three new ranges will be available in Europe and South Africa from March.
Dan Woodstock, Product Marketing Manager for Canon Europe, commented: “With the three new series, Canon is building on the industry leading strength of the imageRUNNER ADVANCE range. In fact, this is now the strongest line-up, to help customers address their total cost of print that we have ever had. As the technology part of any [MPS] roll-out, these devices are designed to fit into busy, modern working environments with minimal impact on space or resources.
“With ever-increasing importance on documents and the content within them to businesses, the new devices play a vital role in making workflows faster and more intuitive. Businesses are increasingly aiming to make their working environment more agile, enabling users to work through whichever devices they choose, while maintaining security and managing cost.
“Canon has designed the latest generation of the imageRUNNER ADVANCE platform with this priority in mind, and the consistent interface and cloud connectivity ensure that the platform will support businesses as they grow for many years to come.”
