The OEM has made it easier to recycle its cartridges in Mexico
The company announced that HP Inc cartridges can be returned to the company through their “authorised partner collection providers for recycling”, HP Planet Partners, which offers free recycling of HP Inc ink and toner cartridges.
Returned and recycled cartridges amount to 680 million since 1991, all of which go through a process of dismantling and separation of parts and raw materials, and some of which are reused in new original HP Inc cartridges and other products.
HP Inc stated that “cartridges returned through the HP Planet Partners programme are never refilled, resold or sent to a landfill”, but the recycled plastic is used to create new cartridges, and by doing this the company has used more that 80 million kilograms of recycled plastic since 2000 in the manufacturing of its own ink and toner cartridges, which is the equivalent of “keeping 4,425 tractor trailer loads of plastic from going to landfills”.
HP Inc also states that the programme does not accept non-HP Inc brands for recycling, including refilled, remanufactured, relabelled or clone cartridges.
