Officials seized 19,100 counterfeit cartridges in Saudi Arabia worth SR1.3 million ($346,000/€323,510)
The counterfeit cartridges were seized after a raid on a warehouse in Riyadh, reported Arab News, while the owner was arrested. The Ministry of Commerce and Investment (MCI) team of field inspectors found the fake cartridges during a raid on a warehouse ready to be sold, and the warehouse has been shut down.
All the fakes were for well-known brands and included toners, ink cartridges, packing bags, stickers and “other materials describing products”. Earlier, another raid north of Riyadh culminated in inspectors seizing 38,000 counterfeit phone chargers and batteries with branded names such as Apple, Samsung and LG, and the MCI was firm that its inspections of markets, warehouses, shops and commercial establishments will continue.
