Peter Ekstrom will lead the company’s Nordic business as Managing Director.
In a press release, the mobile phone recycling company stated that it was “delighted to announce” Ekstrom’s appointment, with his “over 25 years of managerial experience” including “having worked in senior roles at a number of companies, across different sectors, with a specific focus on industrial manufacturing”, and “particular expertise in the area of international supply chain management, helping to ensure continuity of service for businesses with complex international operations”.
Ekstrom joins the company from Swedish manufacturer NAF AB, where he worked to “drive sales and improve the manufacturing process to cope with changing levels of demand”, “signing a number a of new contracts” and setting up its “first production facility in China”. He also has prior experience working for telecoms network service provider Relacom.
As part of his role, he “will be responsible for the further expansion of Redeem’s business in the Nordics which works with all the major network operators in the region”, and which “recently saw the opening of a modern processing facility in Estonia to support its growth objectives”. Redeem added that last year, volume in the region grew 75 percent “as the team developed stronger relationships with key clients in all territories, while adding new business in Sweden, through Tele2”.
In turn, “the introduction of a new business process management system which is currently deployed across 1,400 stores in the Nordics offers clients a full range of services from online web tools to corporate asset recovery and logistics solutions”. Last week, the company agreed to run giffgaff’s new marketplace service.
Paul Adams, CEO of Redeem, said: “I am delighted that someone with Peter’s managerial expertise will be heading up our team in the Nordics, which continues to go from strength to strength. We have invested heavily in the region and are now benefitting from the unique breadth and depth of services that we offer.”
Ekstrom added: “I believe there is a real opportunity to increase the number of phones coming back into use in the Nordics thanks to Redeem’s investment in its local operations and its access to a global re-sale network. Our goal is to securely process all the phones we receive, help our partners to strengthen their customer relationships and to support a thriving market in used handsets.”
