The OEM’s European subsidiary has launched the i-SENSYS LBP312x.
IT Online reported on the launch of the machine, which is said to be a “small footprint, high-productivity printer for use in fast-paced work environments where space is a premium”. The printer is also said by the OEM to combine “sharp, rich print output at fast speeds”, and features “high capacity paper trays” as well as duplex printing and “versatile mobile connectivity”, with the OEM stating that this makes it “ideal for busy workgroups in small office spaces”.
The monochrome device is aimed at “busy office workgroups”, with reportedly advantageous changes in “speed, footprint, print quality, paper capacity and running costs”, with the machine’s “high productivity and compact design” aimed at “busy environments where fast, frequent printing is necessary”. Vertical markets that are “client-facing environments” are said to include “healthcare or retail”, while “fast-paced environments” include “logistics, finance and legal”.
The printer is based on an “innovative, more compact print engine” and uses smaller toner cartridges, with the smaller footprint meaning “it can be placed closer to users” for “immediate access to high-speed, top quality, mono print output”. The machine’s “improved print engine” provides A4 and A5 print speeds respectively of 43pm and 65ppm, and allows it to “print in seconds from power off and sleep” due to ‘Quick Start Up’ and ‘Recovery modes’.
Its “high-yield cartridges” mean that “more pages can be printed between refills”, while the LBP312x also features a 550-sheet paper capacity that “can be extended with up to three more standard cassettes of 550 sheets each”, and can print on “up to four different sizes of paper […] without having to reload”. Mobile and cloud technology compatibility includes Canon PRINT Business, Apple AirPrint, Mopria and Google Cloud Print, and it will be launched in April 2017.
Rayner Botha, Canon South Africa’s Product Manager, said: “Canon builds its products around working with our customers to understand their needs. The LBP312x is built to address the needs of customers that have high document output requirements for a small workgroup or in a compact office environment.
“Departments or businesses in the legal, finance and logistics sectors regularly need to print large amounts of critical documents while keeping office space to a minimum and I believe this is the perfect device for those needs. Mobile connectivity and network integration makes the device perfect for agile workgroups, and uniFLOW compatibility makes it easy to slot into an existing print infrastructure.”
