A study has been commissioned relating to WEEE and in particular “the case study of printer cartridge reuse”. Remanufacturers, OEMs and other interested parties are being asked for their input.
The study is to “support compliance promotion relating to the implementation of Directive 2012/19/EU”, which is electrical waste and electronic equipment (WEEE), but it has highlighted Article 4 “on product design” and is using the “case-study of printer cartridge reuse” to report the “implementation of the product design requirement” as well as associated obstructions and “possible further steps”.
Oakdene Hollins Research and Consulting, which runs the Centre for Remanufacturing and Reuse, is carrying out the study on behalf of the EU Commission, and has asked if readers of The Recycler would care to take part, as information from the industry is a “crucial part of the project”, and will not only add value to the project but will “ensure the highest quality and validity of the findings”.
