The OEM’s subsidiary launched MFPs and printers aimed at “healthcare facilities”.
In a press release, Ricoh USA stated that the new series “offers healthcare organisations unparalleled security features for regulatory compliance and savings”, and that the monochrome devices are “designed to address the crucial security, space and budgeting needs of acute, ambulatory and extended healthcare facilities”.
The new machines include the MP 501SPFTL and SP 4510SFTE MFPs in addition to the SP 4510DNTE and SP 5300DNTL printers, with all four able to “offer organisations powerful devices with security-enhanced firmware to help protect sensitive information”. Each device is “equipped with a specially-designed locked print tray” that “meets the stringent requirements to protect pre-printed prescription paper”.
The MP 501SPFTL and SP 5300DNTL are additionally “equipped with Teflon-enhanced print trays to help handle the specialised media healthcare providers rely on, such as wristbands and labels”, with the four launched because “protecting regulated media and confidential patient information is a major concern for many healthcare facilities”, and they “address these crucial concerns” as well as “maintain regulatory compliance without the need to invest in additional secure storage”.
To add to these features, the machines also have “extra-secure firmware [that] helps prevent unauthorised users from gaining access to regulated media, and an optional card authentication package allows only those permitted to access specific functions on the device”. The two MFPs also have a 10.1-inch Smart Operation Panel, and can use the OEM’s Smart Device Connector to “make it easier for those who are authorised to move information quickly, easily and securely”.
All four devices can also be “fitted with regular, non-locking paper trays for plain paper or pre-printed forms”, with their cumulative features meaning each is “a single device that can do the work traditionally expected from a larger fleet”, allowing healthcare facilities to “consolidate equipment. Technical features consist of resolutions of 1,200 x 1,200dpi, and print speeds of 42ppm for the SP 4510DNTE and 4510SFTE alongside 52ppm for the SP 5300DNTL and MP 501SPFTL.
Ron Nielson, Vice President of Healthcare at Ricoh USA, commented: “At Ricoh, we are committed to delivering customised solutions to vertical markets and healthcare is certainly among the most complex, most regulated markets we support. We realise that this industry must adhere to stringent security, patient experience and budgetary requirements and our solutions aim to directly address them.
“With this device series, we built the flexibility, speed and security right into the device helping healthcare organisations do more with fewer steps.”
