Inkjet health tattoo created

Mar 10, 2017

Scientists have created a temporary tattoo that can measure vital signs.

Stock News USA reported that the temporary tattoo is electronic, can be printed on a home printer, and can monitor the amount an individual has drunk, body temperature, pulse, stress levels and blood pressure. The tattoo was made using an inkjet printer, and a flexible nanosheet with printed “black lines that conduct electricity”.

The tattoo is self-adhesive and flexible, and a Bluetooth chip can be included which then allows the wearer to access all the information on their phone. The technology is the brainchild of scientists from the University of Waseda in Japan, and it has been tested on artificial skin where it worked for “several days”, and the team are hopeful that the invention will be used in sports and healthcare.
