Alan Brown, the Managing Director of Xerox Ireland talks about company policies.
Silicon Republic interviewed Xerox Ireland’s Managing Director who has a business degree from the Dublin City University and has been a director of several companies before his move to Xerox which he took on in 2014.
Asked to describe his role at the company Brown said that he leads a team of 260 professionals that “deliver a full range of Xerox products and services across 32 countries.
Brown said that he stays focussed on the bigger picture and that long term goals set his direction and priorities and that this involves continued re-evaluation and judgement calls with the “most important consideration” being the impact on his team and customers, each day is planned but is flexible.
He was asked what the biggest challenges are for the company and said that these were both internal and external and that included keeping the workforce together through rapid change and “generating growth in the marketplace” and further stated: “At Xerox, we are in the privileged position of being market leaders in the segments we serve.
“To continue to lead and grow, we are highly focused on enabling customers on their digital transformation journey, allowing them to set the page free. We do this through the delivery of innovative solutions; reliable, locally based service; and best-in-class technology. Ultimately, it is the experience that we can deliver across all these areas that allows us to delight our customers and win in the marketplace.”
Brown said that there were many opportunities in the industry to capitalise on because of the way technology is changing and digital advances which changes the way businesses communicate and connect stating that MPS has “been the cornerstone of our industry for a number of years and, for customers who have not yet embraced MPS, we have a great opportunity to deliver real value to them.
“In the professional print industry, the innovation, quality and breadth of equipment and solutions for digital printing is really exciting, and an area where Xerox is very much at the forefront.”
The Managing Director said that making mistakes was “ok” as he learned from them and one cannot be right all the time and that decisions need to be made for the right reasons and that there is a need to stand up for what you think or feel.
Brown said that he tries to get the best out of his team by making himself available and being honest as well as communicating and that a company’s greatest asset is the people.
