The OEM’s subsidiary has released the imagePROGRAF iPF670E entry-level device for the US market.
Canon USA stated that the machine “expands [it]s entry-level large-format portfolio”, and is an “economical multipurpose” printer that “is easy to use while increasing productivity with fast print speeds and ink tank efficiencies” alongside “professional quality printing at a competitive price point”. The 24-inch printer features a new five-colour dye and pigment set, and “stems from the iPF670 series” with its “compelling features and specifications”.
These aim to “satisfy a broad range of business needs, including the printing of CAD/GIS documents, posters, graphics, and larger sized business documents”, and the printer is “designed to compete in the low-cost, low-volume 24-inch market” by offering speeds “approximately 20 percent faster than that of the competition”. The device also comes with 540ml of ink “differentiating it from competitors that offer less than 100ml of ink to start with for similar devices”.
Canon USA noted that the printer is “designed to increase accessibility for entry-level operations”, and that with the “increased amount of ink”, it has “helped provide the tools necessary for those businesses entering the large-format market to get their operation up and running”. The aforementioned five-colour dye and pigment set includes CMYK and MBK, or a “dense black” as alternative to the original black.
The colours meanwhile come in 90ml ink tanks, a size “more than double that of the competition”, and the “increased capacity” of these “will allow printers to stay on track and replace their tanks less frequently”. The “hot-swap” tanks, alongside “non-firing nozzle detection and compensation” allow users to “swap inks in the middle of a print job without having to worry about ruining a print”, and other nozzles are used if one clogs, thanks to “over 15,000 nozzles in the printhead”.
Other features include “the ability to load larger rolls of diameters up to 5.9 inches”, “enhanced usability” and a “small footprint”, as well as free downloads for software “not offered by competing devices”. The software available includes: Accounting Manager, to keep “track of your ink and media costs”; PosterArtist Lite, to “bring your graphic design needs in-house to create posters with ease”; Print Plug-in for Microsoft Office; and Direct Print & Share.
The imagePROGRAF iPF670E is now available from Canon at a manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) in the USA of $995 (€933).
Toyotsugu Kuwamura, Executive Vice President and General Manager for the Business Imaging Solutions Group at Canon USA, commented: “When looking to expand business capabilities, employees must be able to expect premium services and confidently utilise new equipment right away. With the introduction of the entry-level counterpart of the iPF670, we are excited to offer a competitive solution for budget-minded customers interested in adding wide-format printing capabilities to their office.”
