Toshiba announces quarterly results

The OEM released its results for the third quarter for “fiscal year 2016 ending March 2017”.

The company saw a solid growth during the “first nine months of FY 2106”, it said in a press release, which was largely due to “increased personal consumption” and moderate growth in the Eurozone.

Due to other circumstances such as Brexit that caused a drop in the value of the pound and the election of Donald Trump which saw a stronger dollar as well as a slowing down in the Chinese economy Toshiba’s Group net sales decreased by 166.6 billion Yen ($1.53/€1.44 million) to 3,846.9billion Yen ($33,162.5/€31,129 million)

The Toshiba group saw a loss in its operating income of -576.3 billion Yes ($-4,967 €-4,663 million) and “Income (loss) from continuing operations, before income taxes and non-controlling interests”, decreased by 436.0 billion yen to -597.0 billion yen ($-5,146.7 million/€-4831million).

Net income (loss) “attributable to shareholders of the Company” decreased by 53.1 billion yen to -532.5 billion yen ($-4,590.6/€-4,309 million).
