The OEM has started the build of a new operation in Danville USA.
WBDJ7 reported that building has commenced at the Danville site where more companies like Kyocera are basing their operations. Telly Tucker, Economic Development Director, Danville, said: “We are really trying to diversify the local economy of this region, the southern Virginia region, providing leads for companies that hopefully land here.”
The building has is 30,000 square feet and will house the OEMs research and development team as well as “manufacturing carbide rotary cutting tools” and will employ 35 people when it opens next year.
Jason Wells, President, Tech Hub, Kyocera SGS, commented: “I have yet to have anyone walk away questioning our decision on landing in Danville once I’m able to walk them through what this community built itself from, what it’s doing for itself today and what it has in store for tomorrow.
“In business, it’s really important to us to make decisions that minimize risk and ensure our success. When we visited Danville, it wasn’t about what they hoped to do, but they showed us what they are doing, and it’s a lot.”
