Epson Australia has opted to become a Full Partner of national recycling program, Planet Ark
Deepening its commitment to a sustainable and environmentally-friendly future, Epson Australia has revealed that it has upgraded its alliance with Planet Ark from Retail Partner to Full Partner, implementing the ‘Cartridges 4 Planet Ark’ program.
According to Wide Format On-line this “innovative recycling program” has been designed to “provide Australians with a free, easy and environmentally-accredited way to recycle their used printer cartridges.”
Cartridges 4 Planet Ark has been running for 14 years and is estimated to have recycled approximately 36 million cartridges, with the help of its 4000 cartridge collection boxes peppered across the country.
The program offers a variety of benefits, both for businesses and consumers, as the process of recycling is simple and free, and Planet Ark offers a zero-waste-to-landfill guarantee, as well as providing businesses with “resource recovery certificates and a potential reduction in waste costs.”
Epson Australia’s General Manager, Business Division, Craig Heckenburg, commented, “As cartridges are made up of a complex mix of plastics, metal and inks they represent a significant investment in resources. When they are disposed of into landfill these resources are lost. That’s why Planet Ark joined with Close the Loop and the participating manufacturers to set up the innovative ‘Cartridges 4 Planet Ark’ program. This program collects and returns cartridges for remanufacturing and recycling – therefore keeping them out of landfill. That’s also why Epson believes in this program and wants to be a key partner in it.”
