The Recycler enlists two new recruits

Oct 11, 2017

Owen Collins and Amy Van De Casteele have joined The Recycler as editorial assistants, working full time and part time respectively.

The Recycler has welcomed on board two new UK-based editorial assistants, both of whom will work remotely, with Owen Collins taking on a full-time role and Amy Van De Casteele working part-time.

Born in 1992, Owen Collins is a writer from Oxfordshire who joined The Recycler as an Editorial Assistant on 9 October 2017, in time for them to celebrate their 25th birthday together. Having graduated from Royal Holloway, University of London in 2014, he has spent the intervening years in a variety of jobs, as well as travelling the country entertaining audiences as a performance poet.

When not performing his poetry, or working for The Recycler, his interests include music (the listening to, rather than the playing of), theatre, politics, architecture and football – specifically, supporting Liverpool and trying not to get too angry about it.

Owen says of his new role, “I am very excited to join the team at The Recycler, and am looking forward to getting stuck in to preparations for our landmark 300th issue.”

Amy Van De Casteele is a 28-year-old half Belgian, half British writer with 6 years’ worth of experience as a freelance copywriter in the travel industry, working for the likes of HotelTravel, Honeymoon Dreams and Pure Destinations. However, her most important role is as a single mother to her 6-year-old daughter.

Amy’s interests include reading about obscure subjects, creative writing, horse riding and music.

Amy says, “I am thrilled to be given the opportunity to work for The Recycler and look forward to gaining invaluable experience in the months to come.”

Stefanie Unland, Managing Director and Editor of The Recycler, commented on the new appointments, “I am incredibly excited for the future – with 300 editions and 25 years as history, the magazine has gone from strength to strength. Amy and Owen are part of the future and I look forward to introducing the two at industry events coming up in the near future.”
