Sharp announce veteran hiring initiative

Dec 4, 2017

The American division of the OEM has launched a new scheme to help US veterans into work.

Sharp’s American subsidiary, Sharp Imaging and Information Company of America, has announced a new programme to help its authorised Sharp dealerships hire veterans of the US Armed Forces.

The initiative aims to help veterans with backgrounds in technical training get jobs in tech or sales positions, with both Sharp and with its document systems dealerships. The OEM will promote the initiative via veterans’ websites and outreach programmes. Once a veteran has selected a position through the SEC Americas website, they will be guided through the application process; throughout this, they will be asked to demonstrate their skills and share their interests with dealers. The dealership will then be reimbursed its training costs by Sharp.

Mike Marusic, Sharp’s Chief Operating Officer, said: “As our industry becomes more complex, it is increasingly difficult to hire the right people who are technically trained, highly motivated and great team players. Our U.S. veterans are the perfect source for such candidates. This is a wonderful opportunity to assist our veterans as they move into the civilian workforce, while at the same time being a resource to help our dealers recruit the best possible employees. We are committed not only to recruit these individuals, but to provide the training necessary to leverage their skills for our industry-specific needs.”

Dealers are able to send in positions for Sharp’s website, and they will be advertised from the start of January.
