CMD Print Solutions strives to reduce waste

Dec 11, 2017

The Albany-based company is seeking to minimise its impact on the environment by cutting down on both plastic and paper waste.

As Scoop reveals, CMD Print Solutions is making a “company wide effort”.

“Being in the industry for over two decades, we are well aware of the misinformation surrounding paper production and printing”, says CMD Print Solutions Director, Danny van der Velde.

“Because of these misconceptions, we believe it is important to not only educate the public about some of the realities of the industry, but also, as a company, practicing what we preach”.

The printing industry is often reviled because of the number of trees which have to be cut down to produce the paper the industry requires.

“Not only is a large percentage of the paper we use recycled, but we partner with NZ’s most reputable paper supplier, Spicers – New Zealand’s most environmentally friendly paper merchant”, explains van der Velde.

Spicers is the only supplier in New Zealand which has PEFC™ and FSC® chain of custody accreditation. Meanwhile CMD Print Solutions “also strives for sustainability throughout their day-to-day business operations”, placing their emphasis on the reduction of plastic waste.

“As a company, we take plastic waste very seriously”, says van der Velde.

“For our packaging material, we use paper as much as possible and reuse said packaging multiple times”.

“We have been working over the years to instil a culture of sustainability throughout our company, an ethos which has been embraced by all of our employees,” he concluded.
