Canon USA looks to the future

The OEM’s American division has hosted a panel discussion to debate the implications of digital transformation.

Canon USA Inc has hosted an interactive panel with business thought leaders, in which it hoped to consider the future of digital transformation strategies. According to a Canon-sponsored IDC survey, sixty percent of enterprises plan to implement a digital transformation strategy by 2020.

This has, according to the OEM, raised various questions, such as – what will transform the workplace?; what will shape the ‘Office of the Future’?; and how will companies adapt? Similarly, Canon names advanced digital security protocols, cloud computing expansion, and the disruption of artificial intelligence as three “pivotal factors” which companies must consider.

To discuss these issues, the OEM assembled a panel, moderated by journalist and author Aimee Groth, at shared workspace hub NeueHouse NY; the panel included “thought-provoking leaders” from Canon, the IDC, HOK, and The Ready, and examined issues such as company culture, workplace autonomy, and architectural design, and how they will intertwine to be pivotal in the future of work – as well as how they can improve productivity and employee well-being.

Greg Ryan, Vice President, Corporate Planning Centre, Canon Information & Imaging Solutions, Inc., said: “The Office of the Future is not a distant concept; it is happening now. Companies need to find ways to pivot their existing workflow strategies to embrace the digital transformation, and a great way to accomplish that is by synthesizing emerging technologies with existing. This is how we can reach the full potential of the Office of the Future.”

“The growing adoption of digital transformation initiatives and related transformative technologies will alter the very nature of work and radically change the workplace of the future,” added Holly Muscolino, Research Vice President of Content Technologies and Document Workflow for the IDC. “Organizations should leverage these initiatives to add intelligence and automation to routine business processes and workflows, off-loading mundane tasks and enabling information workers to focus on increased value and innovation.”
