Kodak enters German home printing market

Kodak announces agreement with Media Markt and the Saturn Group to sell new Kodak all-in-one inkjet printers in Germany

Media-Saturn Group will be the first strategic partner to support Kodak’s entry into the German inkjet home printing market. Both the KODAK EASYSHARE 5300 and 5500 All-in-One inkjet printers will be available from both consumer-electronics trade chains beginning in June.

“We have developed a new business model that enables the consumer to print in the high quality they have come to expect from Kodak, at affordable ink prices and with a high degree of user-friendliness,” said Andreas Lippert, General Manager, Kodak Germany. “Our new pricing model will revolutionize home printing, offering consumers with a high volume of printouts an opportunity to print long-lasting documents and lab-quality photos at affordable prices.” He added, “In Media Markt and Saturn, we have gained two market leaders who can both actively support the introduction of our new printing system and guarantee nationwide distribution.”

The new Kodak EasyShare 5300 and 5500 inkjet printers use Kodak’s innovative inks with extremely small pigment particles. Kodak’s pricing concept of these pigment inks offers savings of up to 50% compared to other consumer inkjet printers for all types of printouts. The black ink cartridge will cost € 9.99, the combined colour cartridge – containing all colours – will cost €14.99 (RRP).

By entering the home inkjet printing market, Kodak addresses precisely the target group with the largest growth potential: consumers who enjoy printing and would print high volumes, but are frustrated with the current high cost of ink.

All-in-One printers feature KODACOLOR technology

The exclusive KODAKCOLOR technology integrated in KODAK EASYSHARE All-in-One inkjet printers is a combination of several elements: innovative pigment inks and permanent print heads (both developed by Kodak), micro-porous photo paper, and Kodak’s long-standing experience in colour and photo technology. This combination ensures excellent results for all printouts, be it text, graphics, or photos with vibrant colours.
