Lexmark International has announced the opening of its European competence centre in Budapest. The competence centre will provide high-added-value services primarily in the fields of finance, marketing, after sale and customer support to the European, Middle Eastern and North-African entities of Lexmark.
Lexmark chose Budapest because of its highly educated and foreign languages-skilled workforce in business and technical areas. The infrastructure and accessibility of the city also prompted Lexmark to select Budapest.
The European competence centre in Budapest has been designed with sustainable development and carbon footprint reduction in mind.
“The favourable business environment in Hungary stimulated our choice to open the competence centre in Budapest. We are also grateful from the very good support we got from the local authorities to open the centre.” said Najib Bahous, Vice President and General Manager of Lexmark Europe, Middle-East and Africa. “This new competence centre will help us strengthening the quality level of our services in finance and customer support. This is a key area for Lexmark and demonstrates our corporate vision: to earn our customers’ loyalty, we must listen to them, anticipate their needs and act to create value in their eyes.”
The opening of the Lexmark competence centre in Hungary was supported by the European Union and ITD Hungary, the Hungarian Investment
and Trade Development agency.
“Global economic events have slowed investment and intensified international competition for capital. All decisions to invest in Hungary reinforce our conviction that we can continue to maintain the excellent position we have fought to establish,” said Gordon Bajnai, Hungarian Minister of Economy and Development. “The foundation of the Lexmark Competence Centre and 50 similar investments providing a total of 20,000 jobs throughout the country are proof positive that Hungary continues to be able to attract and win the trust of major companies,” the minister added.
Lexmark sells its products in more than 150 countries. Employing 13,800 people worldwide, Lexmark is one of the Fortune 500 companies and ranked number four in the computer peripherals’ category of Fortune’s America’s Most Admired Companies in 2007.
