In honour of America Recycles Day, Planet Green organized a two day recycling event where hundreds of local residents and businesses dropped off thousands of pounds of electronic waste over the windy November weekend and found out more about environmental issues and future recycling opportunities with Planet Green. Planet Green is an inkjet remanufacturing company that manages one of the largest inkjet recycling programmes in the
The event was a big success – an entire 53’ truck was filled with e-waste, including computers, printers, stereos, cell phones and more than 100 Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) monitors.
Sean Levi, Planet Green’s founder and CEO, has been supporting these events as a way for local community members to have a decent resource for recycling their e-waste rather than dumping it into the trash. “We mainly focus on printer cartridges and cell phones,” Levi said, “but we are well aware that people are also looking to properly dispose of their big items, and an event like this is the best way to do that. This is also a great way to get to know our neighbours and establish a relationship with them.”
Planet Green’s Recycling Programme Director, Roberta Brodsky, was ecstatic about the event’s turnout, exclaiming “It’s great to see so many people from the community come together and work towards a common goal: a greener tomorrow.”
All the items collected will go through a proper dismantling and disposal process before they are recycled into new products or materials. All private information will be destroyed using a state-of-the-art wiping process. Future e-waste collection events are planned.
