Epson has launched the Epson Projector Lamp Recycling Program for used projector lamps. Through this program, Epson collects used projector lamps of any manufacturer at locations in every state in Australia. Lamps are then transported to a plant for processing, greatly reducing the rate of disposal of these products into landfill and avoiding potential environmental damage as a result.
Consumers simply take their used lamps to an Epson collection point. From here, lamps are returned to a processing plant for crushing. Components are separated, with environmentally harmful chemicals such as mercury removed and neutralised through distillation. Other components are melted down for re-use. Through this process, approximately 97% of an average projector lamp can be recycled; reducing what would otherwise be e-waste from entering the environment.
