Brazilian remanufacturers optimistic about 2009

Brazilian association ABRECI has revealed the results of a survey it conducted on its website (www.abrecipress.org.br) between February and March 2009.

Businesses were asked about their expectations for 2009 and responses were overwhelmingly positive.

The survey asked “Based on 2008, what would be your expectation regarding your profits in Brazilian Reais in 2009?”

Participants were asked to select from the following options:

a)      An increase of up to 15%

b)      An increase between 15% – 30%

c)       An increase of more than 30%

d)      No increase nor retraction

e)      A retraction up to 15%

f)       A retraction of more than 15%

One quarter of respondents expect profits to grow more than 30%. 24% expect company profits to increase by up to 15%. 35% said that the profits will grow between 15% – 30%. 11% expect no increase or retraction in 2009. Just 2% said that the profits will diminish up to 15%. And 3% anticipate a retraction in profit of more than 15%.

The sector is clearly optimistic as 84% of the answers indicated that profits will have some increase and 60% expect profits to grow more than 15% this year.
