Redeem Plc is opening a London office, its second UK operation. With predicted turnover this year to exceed £12 million, more than double last year, and expanded global operations, the London opening has proved vital.
Opened on September 10th, the distribution centre will allow for an improved offering to partners including network operators and manufacturers, providing support in the collection and distribution of devices and accessories across the UK.
As it expands its global presence, Redeem will also extend the portfolio of products it will collect for recycling and refurbishment. The distribution centre will focus on collecting and processing digital cameras, MP3 players, GPS devices and laptops, as well as mobile phones.
Most products will still be shipped to Redeem’s recently opened sales and processing division in Hong Kong for resale into emerging markets.
Jamie Rae, Chief Executive of Redeem, commented: “The opening of our London operation is very indicative of our strong growth and continued ambitions for the business. We have undertaken a rapid expansion plan and are expanding our expertise in the electronic recycling space all the time. With a predicted turnover increase from £5.8million to over £12 million this year, we are clearly positioned as a leader in our field.
“We recognise the importance of harnessing the opportunity to recycle and sell on mobile and electronic devices in the emerging markets and believe that widening our UK operations gives us the opportunity to do this. We are currently looking at ongoing opportunities within the UK, European and Asian operator markets as we grow our expertise and deliver the highest level of service for customers.”
Initially, Redeem plans to employ 15 new staff at the 15,000 sq ft premises in London, but this could rise to over 50 people as the business grows.
Redeem plc was founded in 1999 and currently employs 90 staff across its five sites in Scotland; Italy; Republic of Ireland; Turkey and Hong Kong.
